This year is the first time I have been to the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, and it was a blast! The location of the track is perfect, the crowd was healthy and the racing spectacular. As much as I loved the Pirelli World Challenge, Indy Lights and Indy Car action on-track, the Stadium Super Trucks were pretty phenomenal!
Item #1 on my agenda was launching "The Spectacle" book & coloring book which is for sale at-track at the IndyCar Fan Zone tents along with "Josef, The Indy Car Driver" items. Plus, media meetings, team conversations and dialogue with IndyCar was a big part of the agenda.
But more importantly, I got to drop in on a group of young guests with Racing for Kids! Last year, IndyCar and I donated over 1,000 coloring books and sets of crayons to this charity, and it was awesome to see them being enjoyed by these kids. In the chaos of trying to build this business, this was certainly a healthy reminder of why I am doing it!
Here are a few more pictures from the event:
I saw a few new owners of "The Spectacle" getting autographs from Ryan Hunter-Reay. I signed a few copies too!
Dixon's new livery looked even better in person.
It was nice to catch up a bit in person with Josef and his new ride.
The Penske guys seem to be gelling nicely so far... I wish I had audio from this interview; it was actually quite entertaining!
Mickey made it out to the race as part of a new IndyCar / Disney promotion.
Bourdais was on it! 21st to 1st by any team is impressive, Dale Coyne Racing achieving it makes it that much more special!
The next race on my docket is Indy! Hope to see some of you there!
